Innovative textile applications with polyurethanes from Wevo

Polyurethane potting compounds are opening up numerous new possibilities in combination with textiles, as confirmed by the successful collaboration between WEVO-CHEMIE GmbH and the Saxon Textile Research Institute (STFI).

The STFI has tested selected potting compounds from Wevo as part of several research projects. Our polyurethanes have proven to be suitable for two applications: The production of large-area textile surface elements for monitoring mechanical loads using modern sensors and 3D printing on pre-stressed textiles to produce three-dimensionally deformed structures.

The STFI has summarised the results of the study in a press release.

Key insights on polyurethane potting compounds for textile 3D printing applications:

  • The Saxon Textile Research Institute (STFI) is testing Wevo’s polyurethane potting compounds for additive manufacturing on textiles.
  • Two application scenarios are in focus: large-area textile elements for monitoring mechanical loads and 3D printing on pre-stretched textiles to create 3D structures.
